In 2010, there was a lot of time, energy, and money spent to get “Tea Party” candidates elected to Congress across the country. How did they do? Not nearly as well as we had hoped. In fact, not much better than the other Republicans, on average. Steve Chabot was exceptional, as were a few others, but the scores for the 87 freshmen are not all that encouraging. The rankings are from the Club for Growth.

Just for clarity (and Honesty), the Club for Growth only ranks the records for Fiscal Responsibility, Taxes, and Growth oriented legislation. Social issues are ignored. But they are included in the Heritage rankings, which are not included here. Those are hard to sort and figure out, but they rather closely resemble the Club for Growth results.

For a listing of the freshmen, and their ratings, see here.

Learn the tools you need to make an impact in a place that makes the most powerful difference, close to home.

Click here to view recent Ohio polling numbers for the 2012 Presidential race.

Regardless of the polls, the side that ultimately wins will be the side that is most successful turning out their voters. In the coming months, you will hear appeals from many sources asking for help making calls, preparing mail, dropping leaflets, going door-to-door, etc.

Every little bit helps, but do you know the key to making any get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort the most successful?

Answer: The more personal the approach to motivating voters, the more effective the approach will tend to be.

In the old days of “patronage politics,” ward chairs would canvass their local areas and depended on face-to-face interaction to drive the vote. As technology became more prevalent, such outreach became replaced by more impersonal forms of communication such as mass media, radio, TV, direct mail, and phone calls.

This new kind of politics tends to not only be less personal, it tends to distance the government and political representatives from the people. It also makes money more of a factor. The candidate with the most money gets an edge because he or she can more easily drive a message.

So what does this mean for 2012?

The good news is that personal outreach is still the gold standard. Whatever else you do this election, make sure you organize GOTV in your own neighborhood. It may be that the work you do closest to home has a greater impact than any other work you do.

Getting out the vote in your community is not rocket science, but there are tools that can make doing so easier and more effective. Join members of Cincinnati Tea Party this Saturday, May 19th from 9a.m. – 3p.m. for a free American Majority training (click to register).

Today, James O'Keefe pulled another sting off. Remember him? ACORN videos, etc. Well, you would think that the left would be well armored against him, but apparently not.

I wrote a piece in the Clermont Patriot newsletter (http://clermontpatriot.wordpress.com) about voter fraud in Florida, and how widespread and insidious it is.

That was last week.

Today, James O’Keefe pulled another sting off. Remember him? ACORN videos, etc. Well, you would think that the left would be well armored against him, but apparently not. Not that smart…..

This time, it is in North Carolina, the home of the DNC convention. The story, including a flaming video of what happened, courtesy of Big Government (read here). Unfortunately, as O’Keefe shows, it is ridiculously easy to perpetuate fraud.

Now, I am going to repeat a call from my last weeks article. In Ohio, we have the “Voter Integrity Project”, which is an offshoot of True The Vote. In Clermont County, Larry Heller is the local coordinator. He could use your help to True the Vote, and eliminate fraud in Ohio. Contact Larry, or if you don’t know how, contact me at roger.baxter@fuse.net, and I will get you in touch.

For the Clermont Patriot, or my Email, just underline, and right click (in Windows). You will get there.

It is time to restore some integrity to political office in America. To do so, people need to get off their couches and get involved.

In this speech given in Selma Alabama, Barack Obama lies about the reason his parents “got together.” He says it was due to,

“…something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they (his parents) got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

A few problems with that. The Selma marches took place in 1965 (link), and Obama was born in 1961 (link).

Are you tired of politicians lying to you? “The arrogance of politicians is equal to the ignorance of their constituents” (Chuck Woolery). It is time to restore some integrity to political office in America. To do so, people need to get off their couches and get involved.

They are regulating coal, which comprises more than half of our electricity supplies, out of existence. They are trying to do the same with nuclear.

You have heard it all from the administration. They are for “All of the Above” when it comes to energy. But they lie, and lie continuously. Truth told, they are for “None of the Above” except for wind and solar, which, in combination, contribute less than three percent of our energy needs, and only on a sporadic basis.

They are regulating coal, which comprises more than half of our electricity supplies, out of existence. They are trying to do the same with nuclear. They are now aiming at natural gas through F racking regulations.

And, now, here is the kicker. They have walled off the Green River Basin from development, despite the fact that even the government says that it holds more oil and gas than the total reserves known to exist in the ENTIRE WORLD.

Read the article here.

Time to get more than a little upset, folks. These people, including Sherrod Brown and Obama have to go away in November.

Come to the June Tea party meeting to learn how to help. Or, go to American Majority to learn about training opportunities.

Watch this video about an alleged multi-billion dollar tax fraud perpetrated by illegal immigrants. Essentially, these individuals are filing for thousands in refunds for dependents, many of which do not even live in the U.S.

The loophole being abused is called the “additional child tax credit.” Undocumented workers are using it to claim their nieces and nephews as dependents. This results in thousands of dollars in refunds for themselves while costing U.S. taxpayers over $4 billion a year.

A stellar vote of confidence for the same government that wants to take over our healthcare. See the response the investigative reporter gets from the IRS after calling, emailing, and even traveling to D.C., no reply.

Note as you watch this, the farther away government gets from the people, the more difficult it becomes to hold accountable. Kudos to this reporter, perhaps there is hope for some members of the press after all.

Watch and share with a friend.

Many thanks to those who braved the weather to attend the meeting on Tuesday.

A few follow-up items:

1). We will either get out the vote this fall or lose Ohio to the left (see polls). Hope is not a plan and there is no cavalry coming to the rescue. Help start organizing for victory by printing out and looking over your precinct’s walking list. Click here for directions how.

2). Who should make decisions about healthcare for you and your family – Washington insiders or you? One way to put citizens back in control of their healthcare is by implementing a Health Care Compact.
3). Voter integrity is essential to the survival of our republic. Work from home to help clean up the voter database in Ohio and reduce the possibility of voter fraud. More information is available from Denise Mayer at: denisem@ohiovip.org

4). Last month our website had 22,721 page views. That’s over 74,000 so far this year. Help us outrun the liberal, crony media. Our next Website/Blogging for Liberty Class is Monday, May 7th, 7p.m. at the Union Township Civic Center (big room, lower level). If you are technical enough to send an email, you are technical enough to be a blogger. We will be dividing into two groups on Monday, one for those already up and running and one for beginners. Cost: Free!

5). Attend an American Majority Activist Training and learn the skills needed to become a stronger defender of freedom. Trainings run from 9a.m. – 3p.m. The cost is $25 (includes lunch and training materials). There are two trainings available in May.

You all heard it before. “If you like your healthcare, you can keep it”. Not quite true, and not so fast. A new bevy of studies show that there is a very high incentive in Obamacare for companies to drop coverage altogether, as the fine is far cheaper than the cost of continuing. What is NOT said in the linked article is that this was the intention all along. It was never about health care. It was always about government control and power. True of all “progressives” (Marxists).

The minimum wage only hurts the people that it is intended to help. Another example of the unintended consequences that sometimes occur due to government intervention in the free market.

So the Occupy Cincinnati folks are now demanding and increase in the minimum wage as a solution to what ails our nation (story)?

C.S. Lewis once wrote about the wise fools of the modern age who had lost touch with underlying value and instead embraced popular forms of subjectivism,

“Their skepticism about values is on the surface: it is for use on other people’s values; about the values in their own set they are not nearly skeptical enough.” (pp. 29 The Abolition of Man, 1944).

It has been proven over and over again that the minimum wage only hurts the people it is intended to uplift. Such intervention in the free-exchange of labor and wages does unintended damage to those at the lowest rung of the economic ladder. Watch this video, it explains it beautifully.

We – meaning you and I – are approaching, if not in retirement. Therein lies the problem. The Government has known for decades (literally) that the “baby boom” following WW2 was making its way though the demographic, but refused – for a variety of reasons – to deal with it. Now, the imminent demise of Social Security and Medicare is upon us.

Promises made that we cannot keep. What next?
